The Drawstring Crochet Hat Pattern
In an attempt to recreate a past design, I ended up with a brand new design. Actually wrote about today on the Crochet Blog as well. Went with improvising as I went along to create this drawstring Crochet Hat Pattern. The Video Tutorial is on The Dream Crochet Youtube Channel as well!
MATERIALS
[2] Loop & Threads "Impeccable/Speckle Yarn"- Medium 4, 100% Acrylic, 160 yd. /146 m. 3 oz.
H/8 5.00MM Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Measuring Tape
Pony Beads for the chain detailing
Hot Glue Adhesive [to secure the beads]
STARTING THE PATTERN
Then CH1, to work 8 SC STS Total,
Work into the middle of the circle. At the end of the round, SL ST into the starting TCH to continue work.
RND1: Create 2 SC STS, into every ST going around. At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.
RND2: CH1, then SC into the 1st ST **and then into every 2nd ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next ST…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND3: CH1, then SC into the first 2 STS **and then into every 3rd ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next 2 STS…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND4: CH1, then SC into the first 3 STS **and then into every 4th ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next 3 STS…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND5: CH1, then SC into the first 4 STS **and then into every 5th ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next 4 STS…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND6: CH1, then SC into the first 5 STS **and then into every 6th ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next 5 STS…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND7: CH1, then SC into the first 6 STS **and then into every 7th ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next 6 STS…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND8: CH1, then SC into the first 7 STS **and then into every 8th ST-Create 2SC [TWO TIMES into the same ST], then 1SC into the next 7 STS…[Repeat from** until the end of the round, At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND9-RND15: CH2, 1HDC into all of the STS for ALL of the Rounds. At the end of each round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.
RND16: CH2, **then skip the next ST-& 1HDC into the next 2 STS... [**Repeat from** until the end of the RND. At the end of each round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND17: CH2, 1HDC into all of the STS for the entire Round. At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.
RND18: CH1, create 2SC into ALL of the STS for the entire Round. At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.
RND19: CH1, **then 1SC into the next ST, and for every 2nd ST--create 2SC STS [all into the SAME ST]... [**Repeat from** for the entire RND. At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.]
RND20-RND22: CH2, 1HDC into all of the STS for ALL of the Rounds. At the end of each round, SL ST to the starting TCH to continue work.
RND23: CH1, 1SC into all of the STS for the entire RND. At the end of the round, SL ST to the starting TCH to complete final work. Fasten off work, weave in ends.
Creating the Beaded Drawstring.
CH for 47 STS or to desired drawstring chain length. Leave extra bit of strand at the beginning (about an inch or so) & at the completed end of the Chain, for the addition of the Beads.
Insert the Chain into & between every 3 STS, weaved into RND18. May also add the pony beads to the extra ends of the extra strands of yarn. Secure ends of the beads, with knot or hot glue adhesive.
