The Dream Crochet Handmade Summer 2023 Accessories
Recently, I've come up with some new & exciting ideas for accessories! Accessories are truly never an afterthought for me. Sometimes, I'll even start with them and build an outfit around the accessory. They can be prominent statement pieces or something subtle that matches the outfit, either way, there's really no reason to forget about them. Instead, make them a bit more memorable.
Bucket hats are perfect for the Summer and I've started designing my own. I start by creating the foundation of the Hat, using recyclable felt paper. Then crocheting the base of the hat & the brim of the hat itself, deciding on the color &the stitch, then I add fabric for the band which gives it its distinct shape, then I super glue the fabric to the crocheted yarn, and I have a bucket hat! I'm excited about all of the combinations I can make with it & it's the perfect accessory to keep cool &fashionable during the warmer months.
I love a casual look, & the crochet drawstring hat fits the bill. There’s the free tutorial on the YouTube Channel too. The hat itself works really well with effortless outfits, the kind where it seems like you've just thrown something on before you head out of the door. It's a versatile hat because it can be adjusted using the beaded drawstring, so you don't have to worry about the fit. The bucket hat makes fashion look easy and who says it has to be cumbersome?
I try not to pick favorites, but the crocheted bonnet is too hard to resist. Peasant blouses, maxi skirts, & floral patterns go so well with these hats and give an outfit that romantic flair. These aren't just simple bonnets either, they've got so much personality & impact. I like adding flower applique & lace to the brim and the string to add to the fantasy. This is one of the more classic looks & yet with a few updates, it fits nicely in the modern world.
I'm all about upcycling & I do my best not to waste materials. After having leftover pieces of fabric from another project, I decided to make mini-printed fabric & crochet bags. There's crochet on the edges of the fabric & the handle, & while it's a simple design it's no less effective. It has a minimalistic charm that stands out at the same time. I'd pair this with the main garment I used the fabric for, or go with another pattern that clashes in a dynamic way.
Crocheted sunglasses are great standout pieces that offer that vintage vibe I'm always going for. I crochet both of the lens detail, then apply the crocheted rounds with fabric adhesive, all around the lenses of sunglasses. Sometimes multiple colors depending on what I'm going for. Inspiration of the vintage flower glasses, only the flowers are crocheted. I wear these with tees, a simple pair of jeans, or one of my Dream Duos creations which makes the outfit wholeheartedly a bit more fun.
