I’m Completely Obsessed with The Dream Crochet Tiered Ruffle Skirt

Sometimes, I get obsessed with an idea, and I just have to go with it. Right now, I’m really feeling crochet ruffles and it kind of came out of nowhere. I like when clothes are layered and have tiers because it gives an outfit a sense of dimension, so ruffles make are a very easy way to get that across. I made a ruffled crochet skirt and a useful tutorial that goes along with it on The Dream Crochet YouTube Channel!

For the crochet skirt I created, I had a very specific idea and I was determined to accomplish my vision. i wanted it to be knee-length, so I made sure that I had enough yarn for each tier. I also wanted the colors to be purple tones, because I wanted the tiers to be visible and the contrast makes it easy to tell where each tier begins and ends.

One of my favorite features about the tiered crochet skirt is that the style is open enough so you can see the color underneath. That creates a pleasing effect because the various shades of purple complement each other. There’s a distinction between them, but they also blend so well together.

I paired the skirt with a lace top, which might not be the first thing someone would grab, but it really works with this! The openness of the design and the romantic swirls create continuity between the top and the bottom. The lace shirt leans into the whimsical aesthetic of the skirt, though you could always tone it down with a solid tee or edge it up with a graphic tee, then a denim jacket to give it a bit of structure & edge.

The tiered crochet skirt is very playful and versatile. I have a handful of exciting ideas &color combinations that I’d like to experiment with that I think could be a lot of fun in the near future!
