The Bowler Crochet Hat Pattern Guide.

Hello there! For those who followed my original blog… cue the Titanic meme…”It’s been 84 years….” and to say I wanted to share this pattern, I needed to refresh this one entirely! Made the original version officially 10 years ago, and I’m happy to return to the design giving it a new light and a clearer view of making!

MATERIALS

[Used 1* Skein/Ball for SM/MD]

1 for ALL SIZES

Yarn: Caron One Pound Yarn in “Robins Egg”

US H/8 5.00mm Crochet Hook

Yarn Needle

Scissors

Measuring Tape

Stitch Markers

Gauge:

10 SC STS [Going Across the Rounds] [Width] X 7 HDC STS[Going Down Rounds] = 4 in.

Abbreviations:

CH [#] Turning Chain initiated

STS= Stitch [es]

SC= Single Crochet

SC2TOG= Single Crochet 2 STS together [for decrease]

HDC= Half Double Crochet

SL ST= Slip Stitch

RPT =Repeat from asterisk, *follow repeating method from this starting point

STARTING THE PATTERN

Note: Pattern is constructed in rounds, increasing each round. May stop at desired round for personal desired fit.

CHAIN 3, Connect the last ST, to the very first ST.

RND1: CH1, 1SC into the middle of the circle, 10 times, [for a total of 10 STS] SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.

RND2: CH1, 2SC into all of the STS around, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work. [20 STS]

RND3: CH1, *1SC into the next ST and into every 2nd ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND4: CH1, *1SC into the next 2 STS and into every 3rd ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND5: CH1, *1SC into the next 3 STS and into every 4th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

*RND6: CH1, *1SC into the next 4 STS and into every 5th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND7: CH1, *1SC into the next 5 STS and into every 6th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND8: CH1, *1SC into the next 6 STS and into every 7th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND9: CH1, *1SC into the next 6 STS and into every 7th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

Note: May end round increase here, I increase due to a larger personal desired fit!]

RND10: CH1, *1SC into the next 7 STS and into every 8th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND11: CH1, *1SC into the next 9 STS and into every 10th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND12-RND18: CH2, and work 1HDC into all of the STS going around for all of the rounds, at the end of each round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND19: CH1, 1SC into the following 2 STS and into every 3rd ST-Work-SC2TOG for the next ST….[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND20: CH2, and work 1HDC into all of the STS going around for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND21: CH1, *1SC into the next 2 STS and into every 2nd ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND22: CH1, *1SC into the next 10 STS and into every 11th ST-Work [2SC into the SAME ST]…[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]

RND23-RND25: CH2, and work 1HDC into all of the STS going around for all of the rounds, at the end of each round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.] . At final Round, fasten off to complete work for this section.
