The Autumn Leaves Crochet Hat Pattern Guide.
Hello there! Was instantly inspired by Darn Good Yarn- Yarn Of The Month special delivery. Creating a cozy Autumn inspired crochet hat was the first idea that immediately came into view once receiving this happy crafty mail. So I wanted to share how I create my slouchy styled hats for the Fall Season.
MATERIALS
[Used 2* Skein[s]/Ball
1 for ALL SIZES
Yarn: Darn Good Yarn- “Yarn of The Month” - Worsted Weight- Recycled Silk Yarn
US H/8 5.00mm Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Measuring Tape
Stitch Markers
Gauge:
10 HDC STS [Going Across the Rounds] [Width] X 6 DC STS[Going Down Rounds] = 4 in.

Abbreviations:
CH [#] Turning Chain initiated
STS= Stitch [es]
SC= Single Crochet
SC2TOG= Single Crochet 2 STS together [for decrease]
DC2TOG= Double Crochet 2 STS together [for decrease]
HDC= Half Double Crochet
DC= Double Crochet
SL ST= Slip Stitch
RPT =Repeat from asterisk, *follow repeating method from this starting point
STARTING THE PATTERN
Note: Pattern is constructed in rounds, increasing each round. May stop at desired round for personal desired fit.
CHAIN for 62 STS, Connect the last ST, to the very first ST.
RND1: CH2, 1HDC around into all of the 62 STS, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.
RND2-RND10: CH3, 1DC around into all of the 62 STS, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.
RND11: CH3, 1DC, into the first ST, *THEN work [DC2TOG into the following STS] THEN, work 1DC into the next ST……[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]
RND12: CH1, 1SC, into the following 2 STS, *THEN work [SC2TOG into the following STS] THEN, work 1SC into the next 2 STS……[*Repeat from *until the end of the round, at the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain to continue work.]
RND13: CH1, Work [SC2TOG into all of the STS, to start and close the opening of the rounds. At the end of the round, SL ST into the starting chain, and fasten off work.]
NEXT, To secure and attach the opening of the HAT, using your yarn needle a strand of yarn, begin to thread/sew through the STS to close the round.
FINISHING TECHNIQUES
Return to Round 1, Rejoin hook to work 1HDC around and into the STS from Round 1, To create the finished detailing. *May increase rounds if personally desired as well!
