Helpful Content Creation Tips

Let’s face it, keeping up with social media and creating content can be a daunting task. With all of the different algorithms, the new trends, and coming up with ideas there’s just so much to account for. It can reach the point where it’s s overwhelming that you don’t even want to post because it’s not fun anymore. I’ve been there and I’ve come up with some tips to circumvent this.

The first step is to realize it’s not a big deal. That’s easier said than done, but when I approach a Crochet project like it’s work rather than play, it becomes that much harder. Social media should be a way for us to connect and feeling obligated to post all the time can be detrimental in so many ways. When you tell yourself that you’re in control and not beholden to the machine, it takes the pressure off so wait for inspiration to to grab hold of you.

For the actual content creation itself, the good news is that everything is content. That little project you think no one cares about? Post it! You never know how people will respond. Some of my ideas that I thought no one would be interested in have had the biggest results. There’s no harm in putting yourself out there and seeing what happens. It’s all about sharing your journey and you personality and your love of what you do.

Not everything has to be done at the same time. Creating content can be time-consuming: coming up with the idea, making the projects, recording a video, editing the video, posting it with the proper hashtags, and so much more. Instead, take it step by step rather than rushing through it just so you can post it quickly. Show people where you’re at and bring them along for the journey. Not everything has to be perfect because we’re all works in progress.

Get the most out of your projects by making multiple posts about them. Just because you finish a project doesn’t mean you can only post about it once. Approach it from different angles and see what sticks. One video can be about the pre-production process, another can be about how you’d wear it, another can be a video highlighting its features set to music. The best part is that you can be as creative as you want!

Once you’ve created content, post it on various social media platforms. The good news is that the hard part is done. You’ve already made the project, so now it’s just about putting it out there. The added benefit is that doing this gives it a greater chance of taking off and people finding it the more places you post about it.

You’ve spent the time making it, so you should get the most out of your work. It’s all in how you approach things and if you set your intentions to have fun, it becomes that much more easier. Work on your projects, bit by bit (just like row by row!) and post when you feel like it. Remember, you’re the one in control, not some random algorithm.
