How to Update Your Clothing Style

Updating your clothing style can seem scary at first. Many of us are creatures of comfort and the thought of breaking the norm fills us with excess anxiety, but it doesn’t have to be such a big deal. It’s important to know that changing your style doesn’t mean that you’re changing who you are. Think of it like you’re just exploring more of your personality. We all have so many sides and we’re constantly growing, so why shouldn’t our clothing style should reflect that?

Try adding crochet to your wardrobe if you haven’t already. This advice should come as no surprise that the first thing I’m going to suggest is to do! Crochet doesn’t have to be put into a small box, there are so many different ways to wear it. Start small with accessories like handbags, headbands, and bows. Small details can go a long way to show that your style is evolving, and it could continue to progress into other areas of fashion as you go along.

Next, think of the color(s) that you like but you don’t wear very often. For example, for the Spring and Summer seasons, my go-to is usually bright pinks and yellows, but this season I really felt like breaking out and decided to incorporate blues, especially light blue. That was motivating part of my inspiration for The Dream Crochet Oceanic Maze collection. I was worried at first, but that became excitement as I experimented with different color combinations revolving around the color.

Research your favorite fashion inspiration, they could be a celebrity or a fashion blogger, and see if anything they wear inspires you. Look through their past style choices and notice how they’ve changed over time. More than likely they’ve tried new things and if they can do it, then so can you! You don’t have to copy their style exactly, but you can take elements of what you like and adapt them to your style.

Something similar can be done with fashion trends. You don’t have to rely exclusively on what’s in fashion and what’s not, but staying up to date can be helpful. I like knowing what’s up in the fashion world and I incorporate the parts I like and disregard anything that doesn’t feel like me. Your clothing style should be a reflection of who you are and you get to make up the rules

It’s good to remember that these are your choices and they can be as bold or as subtle as you’d like. Whatever feels more comfortable to you, but there’s no harm in seeing what else is out there. You never know, you might come to like your style even more than before.
