Gilmore Girls-Inspired Crochet Clothes
‘Gilmore Girls’ is truly one of my favorite shows of all time. I love the banter, the pop culture references, and the story pulls me in every single time I watch. Lorelai and Rory’s relationship is at the heart of the show and it just makes and I get nostalgic for the East Coast. Every season, something inspires my sense of style, and this year it’s most definitely the Gilmore Girls.
When Rory attends Chilton, she doesn’t have an easy time with it at first, (how could she with someone like Paris Geller breathing down her neck?) but I like their Chilton uniforms. School uniforms are inherently repressive, but Rory’s preppy vibe is speaking to me right now and it’s very loud. Rory's known for wearing some cute chunky sweaters, turtlenecks, plaid skirts, and tights, and then I like to add my own ideas to give it that extra personal flair.
This sweater is a very obvious nod to Gilmore Girls. to show my love. It's a blue oversized sweater with the words Stars Hollow in Mustard Yellow. The end of the sleeves and the collar are yellow as well and I paired it with a plaid skirt and knee-high socks. This is wholeheartedly a Rory-approved outfit and Stars Hollow is a magical place.
I kind of went mad for plaid with this one. This Dream Duos crochet set is so adorable and essentially an elevated Rory Gilmore aesthetic. I I reworked the plaid shirt by cutting it in half and adding an elastic band to the the waist to make the skirt and crochet at the bottom. I made the top portion into a crop top and then crocheted the new hem. I used a mustard, gold yellow color again and honestly I’m starting to realize that the color has become a staple for me this Fall. I threw on some tights for extra measure too!
This cropped striped sweater called the Cascade Crochet Top is super cute. I used purple, white, blue, and yellow and this would also look good as a chunky sweater. I paired it with the Mesaines Crochet Skirt which has ruffles and they work together so well together.
What’s so great about these pieces is that you can mix and match to create your own Gilmore Girls-inspired looks. The combinations are endless! And I’ve listed some other cute Rory-approved outfits below:
