Behind the Design: The Rosevine Bell Sleeve Top
Lately, I’ve been trying to go with the flow more than I normally do, so when I finished a project earlier than expected, I decided to go out for some yarn shopping. In the past, I might have nitpicked on what I was working on or immediately started a new project, but taking breaks is also a very important part of the process too. Also, I needed more yarn so that was a bonus lol!
I decided to wear this crochet bell sleeve top with applique roses on it. I made this a while ago and it was sleeveless before, but I felt inspired to update it to give it more of a "wow" factor and I envisioned it with wide sleeves. Luckily, I had just bought a denim skirt with a rose applique, and I had these white cowboy boots with roses on them, and it made for a maximalist outfit. I chose a green crochet bag that I made a few years ago because green evokes a garden feel and I love to wear as much handmade designs as possible!
For the bell sleeves, I used an open DC Cluster stitch so it’s still very breezy and I feel wondrous when I wear wide sleeves. I love it when I have a garment I made that I’ve forgotten about and then I see it again and I get inspired to do something different with it. I liked the design before, but now I absolutely love it.
I picked up some yarn while I was there because I had a project in mind, but when I got back in and started planning it out, I realized it wasn’t what I wanted. That was a little discouraging, but I’m not going to force it. I’ll sit with it for a while and maybe a new idea will come to me. We don’t always have to have the answers right away, it’s good to let them come to us when the time is right.
The design for the Rosevine Crochet Top will be coming soon so I’ll be sure to post it on the pattern shoppe. Be sure to check out The Dream Crochet newsletter as well for updates, exclusive offers, helpful tips, and more!
