Behind the Design: The Ultimate Dream Fabric
Inspiration can truly strike at any time. I wasn't planning on doing another upcycling project, but when I saw his fabric in the clearance bin, I just had to. On the fabric was an image of nature, cloudy skies, trees, and water, and it moved me to work with it. I can be particular when it comes to graphics, but this one seemed so beautiful that I wanted to see what I could create with it.
The weirdest thing was that I had this image of a natural landscape in my mind for a long time, and I could never find it. I'd find similar ones, but there was something not quite right about them. With the one I saw in the store, it was like it was plucked right out of my mind and I knew it had to be fate. I purchased it and came up with an idea immediately.
The design process wasn't very long. I knew I wanted to use blue because it would compliment the skies and the water, and I crocheted sleeves and a collar with “Pound of Love” yarn from Lion Brand to make the coziest oversized Winter Sweater. The design really stands out amongst my other sweaters & that's one of the main reasons why I love it so much.
Pound of Love Yarn & The Fabric, a perfect match!
The other benefit of using this fabric is that I there's leftover material that I can use for other projects. I haven't yet decided what I'd like to make, but I could do some matching accessories or even bottoms. I'll wait until something speaks to me before I make my final decision.
I usually trace a shirt that I already own, to create a pattern to cut from.

The next time I go back, I’ll be checking the fabric remnant clearance bin again in hopes of finding more fabric just like this one. It’s such a beautiful surprise that truly sparks so much inspiration & even though I’m not looking for anything in particular, I have so much hope that it gives me the same sensation that this one did.
